Look What I Got: July and August Purchases

July 2016 Purchases
After looking at my July purchases, I realized I spent quite a bit of time inside malls this summer.  In fairness, most of my mall shopping happened on a short trip to Las Vegas in July...where it is too hot to be outside for more than a few minutes.  So, to me, the mall(s) seemed to be the perfect place to cool off.  Also, in Vegas it appears to be perfectly acceptable to carry a drink around the mall with you, which may have led to most of my Vegas purchasing.

July Purchases

August 16 purchases
I'd say that August was a sparse purchasing month and mostly consisted of burning off some unused Just Fab credits, but I would be lying.   And in full disclosure....the totals below do not include my Lilly Pulitzer After Party purchasing...wherein I spent more than I'd like to admit.  But, since I have a blog where I apparently plaster things I don't like to admit on the internet, I spent $442 at the After Party Sale.

Lilly After Party Sale Haul (& linkup!)

Lilly August 2016 APS sale haul

If you're unaware, Lilly Pulitzer hosts one of my favorite sales twice per year: the After Party Sale.  Twice a year, Lilly offers up tons of goodies at crazy prices ranging from 30% to 60% off.  The sale often includes styles that are hard to find on other websites (like Elsas and popovers).  The second sale of 2016 was this Monday and it did not disappoint.  The sale starts at 8am and you have to get on the site right at 8am or you could miss out on a coveted item.  This year I was ready...pulling up the Lilly site on my laptop and the app on my tablet and iPhone.  I am a bit of an overachiever.

I scored some items I had been lusting after, like that Marlowe dress for just $39!  However, I did not read the fine print and later found out that Lilly was adding new items on a second day of the sale.  This had never been done before.  I was a little too excited on the first day and over-bought slightly.  Because the second day had SO MANY items I had been obsessing over...Luxletic printed leggings, a Captain popover, and a crop and skirt set.  If you are not a Lilly lover, these words are meaningless to you....so just enjoy the above pictures of pretty clothes

I may be selling a few items once they arrive due to my over-buying.  So make sure to check my Poshmark Closet if you are interested!

Check out my HAUL!

Elsa Top in Oh Shello ($69)
Skipper Popover in Multi Out to Sea ($64)
Scarf in First Impression ($39)
Marlowe Dress in Iris Blue Werk It ($39)
Essie Top in Hibiscus Stroll ($24)
Parfait Crop and Skirt Set ($79)
Captain Popover in Via Loca ($59)
Luxletic Crops in Into the Deep ($69)

Effortless Glow with Marc Jacobs (and Link Up!)

Marc Jacobs Highlighter Review 1
My name is Tara and I am a highlighter addict.  It feels good to say it aloud.  The newest addition to my collection is the Marc Jacobs Glistening Glow Stick Illuminator.  Don't be fooled by its deodorant-like appearance.  An amazing highlighter is hiding in that weird little package.

Marc Jacobs Highlighter Review 2
Marc Jacobs Highlighter Review 4
It's solid and is best applied with a stiff bristled brush and can be applied to all the "high points" of the face (i.e. bridge of the nose, cheekbones, forehead, clavicle).  It's pearl-y color looks great on all skin tones (according to Marc Jacobs).  I can tell you it looks great on pale skin!  See below for the results!
Marc Jacobs Highlighter Review 3

Check out #MarcGlowStick for swatches on all skin tones and types.

Disclosure: I was provided this product free for review purposes by Influenster.  However, all opinions are 100% mine.

Discovering Clover Canyon (& LWIG link up!)

Clover Canyon Joyce Dress-2 Clover Canyon Joyce Dress-3 Clover Canyon Joyce Dress-1 Clover Canyon Joyce Dress-6 Clover Canyon Joyce Dress-5 Clover Canyon Joyce Dress-4

Clover Canyon is my new favorite fashion discovery.  The brand is known for its bold, vivid prints and sleek silhouettes.  I love the unique patterns on all the dresses, but I am really in love with the neoprene dresses.  The thick (and forgiving) fabric hugs all your curves (and hides any bumps and lumps).  Sadly, this is a fairly pricey discovery.  I did find this dress for a steal on eBay though!

James Joyce Dress: Clover Canyon via Rent the Runway (exactsimilar)
Darrn Patent Pump: BCBGeneration via DSW (similar)
Denim Jacket: Old Navy (similar, worn)
Joie Necklace: Perry Street via Rocks Box (similar)
Cuff: Lilly Pulitzer (similar)

Look What I Got: Birthday Discounts and Freebies

Birthday Discounts 16 Birthday Discounts 16_2 Birthday Discounts 16_3

Every year for my birthday, I spend a whole day picking up my birthday discounts and freebies.  Yes, I celebrate my birthday every year by eating and chopping alone.  Sometimes all I want for my birthday is to be left alone.  Yes, I am a cranky mom (sans kids).
As per tradition, I start off my morning (or more aptly mid-morning) with my free birthday drink from from Starbucks.  All you need to get yours is to sign up for a Starbucks card.
I then sauntered over to Bloomingdale's where for every $100 you spend during your birthday month you get 5,000 Loyalist Points (which equates to a $25 gift card).  Becoming a Bloomingdale's Loyalist member is totally worth it!  I racked up my $100 with a pair of Soludos, Kendra Scott earrings, and a Bailey 44 Dress.  There were also some major sales happening during my shopping excursion.

And then I popped over to Vera Bradley to use my 25% off birthday discount to snag a new wallet, into Vicotria's Secret to use my $10 birthday reward on some new undies (a perk of having their credit card), and over to DSW to use my $10 birthday reward towards some Chuck Taylors.  The I hopped over to Sephora for my birthday freebie.  This year it was a fresh cleanser and mask.  You really need to sign up for Sephora's VIB points program.  While there I also got a free sample of an Urban Decay gloss with 100 points earned with my VIB card and an Urban Decay lipstick on clearance!  They were trying to clear out before the new release of the Vice lipstick collection. So, for $12.50 i walked out with my cleanser, mask, gloss, and lipstick.

The last stop of the day was for my free Dunkin' Donuts iced coffee.  With their mobile app you earn points towards free coffee, get special coupons, and get a free birthday drink!

The only discount I did not use this year was my Anthropologie 15% off discount.  It wasn't good on sale items and they've routinely been having extra discounts on sale items.  Right now it's 30% off sale stuff!  So, the birthday discount did not seem worth it at the time.

Could there possibly be birthday freebies and discounts that I haven't signed up for?  If so, let me know!
